Apple is all set for its next software update with the release of iOS 26 Beta 4, which is now available to developers and public beta testers. The tech giant is introducing several updates including more pronounced Liquid Glass elements and enhanced functionality that was previously disabled.

Other than these changes, the company is also rolling out improvements to Notification Summaries and the camera app interface. In addition, there is Call Screening settings getting added in the update. While subtle in many areas, this version of the beta indicates a stronger push toward polishing Apple’s new design language while balancing user feedback.

Liquid Glass UI

One of the standout and headline features that took centre stage in iOS 26 Beta 4 is the Liquid Glass UI which is a bold design approach that the company first introduced during WWDC 2025. The feature was initially introduced to aesthetics of the Vision Pro interface which is a glass like transparency. However, it received mixed reactions online. While some users prased it, others felt a bit overdone.

Now after Beta 4, Apple is reversing these dialed-down changes and added a thoughtful new detail including scrolling through notifications, darken background without compromising the glass effect.

Notification Summaries

Another notable update in iOS 26 Beta 4 is the reintroduction of Notification Summaries for News and Entertainment categories.  To recall, Apple disabled this feature in January and the reason was due to the inaccurate summaries getting generated by Apple Intelligence. Nevertheless, after some pause, the tech giant after some testing and fixes has not introduced summaries back.

Users can once again access concise overviews of headlines, making it easier to stay informed without diving deep into every notification. This move suggests Apple is confident in the revised accuracy of its AI-generated content and wants to restore the feature’s convenience to daily use.

UI Touches in Camera

iOS 26 Beta 4 also brings small but noticeable updates to the Camera app’s visual interface. The app icon itself has been refined though slightly as part of Apple’s broader design alignment under Liquid Glass. Additionally, a new splash screen introduces users to the updated UI elements inside the Camera app, serving as a brief walkthrough for what’s new.

Improved Call Screening Features

Beta 4 introduces even more functionality into Call Screening by allowing people additional subtlety into how unknown callers are handled. One can now do other things such as turn the feature off totally, tell the unknown caller to identity why they are calling or automatically tag silent the calls that cannot be identified.

These extensions add to a more customizable experience that is smarter to users who are afraid of privacy and spams with incoming calls coming though unknown sources.
