Just a few hours left until the deadline ends for income tax return (ITR) filing, and taxpayers are facing technical glitches on the Income Tax e-filing portal. Many users have complained that the portal is either not working for them or running very slow. Social Media Flooded with Complaints

Taxpayers are trying to complete the ITR filing process on time to avoid penalties; however, the e-filing portal seems to be down for users across the country. Many took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) to vent out their frustration. One user reported, “Whenever I go for “Proceed To Validation”, the attached image has been showing since yesterday. Please help asap. One email is also sent.” To this, the I-T Department responded with a “We have shared your issue with the team concerned. This is being looked into by our team.”

Another user complained about an error while trying to download AIS and TIS – “I am trying to download AIS and TIS from last one hour… govt should see this… if you cannot extend the date so please make your website workable. Or please extend the date..”

How to avoid I-T Department website issues?

The Income Tax Department has listed ways to avoid website-related issues on your browser. According to the site, desktop browsers like Microsoft Edge (version 88 or above), Google Chrome (88+), Firefox/Mozilla (86+), and Opera (66+) should be use. The department also recommends using Windows 7.x or above, or Linux, or macOS.

The site also suggests that users should clear browser cookies and site data. Taxpayers are advised to use a high-speed low-latency Ethernet wired connection if the problem persists.
