Google’s Pixel 10 series just recently began hitting the shelves; however, buyers didn’t expect what would follow next. An unexpected “screen snow” bug caused coloured stripes to appear on the displays. Several users experienced the issue and were quick to report it through social media. Google took the complaints into account, reaching out to early buyers who experienced the strange bug. Now the tech giant has rolled out a software update for Pixel 10 users, addressing the issue.
The Pixel 10 series was launched on August 20 and went on sale on August 28. Within days of landing in customers’ hands, reports started emerging about the screens briefly showing coloured stripes. The issue looked like hardware damage, but that was not the case as they often disappeared after some time. This suggested a software-related bug. Users even speculated if the issue was tied to the GPU or display drivers.
According to Android Authority, Google has confirmed that a “small number” of Pixel 10 units were affected. The tech giant began rolling out September 2025 patch (build BD3A.250721.001.B7) on September 3, addressing the issue. The update changelog doesn’t mention the bug directly, but refers to a “fix for issue with screen turning black during transitions from a webpage in the in-app browser.”
Even after patching the update, if users face the same glitches – they must contact Google support or the retailer. The update seems to be addressing the bug that caused static-filled displays on the new Pixel 10 series phones.
If you’ve received the latest September Pixel update, it is highly recommended that you install it right away. However, if you don’t see any available updates, it is likely that your device will get the update in the coming weeks.
