Google’s jumping headfirst into Hollywood. The tech giant just unveiled a new film and TV production initiative called “100 Zeros”. Google is teaming up with talent powerhouse Range Media Partners to co-produce original content that utilises the cutting-edge AI and spatial computing tools that Google already has.  news Also Read: Google Launches Pixel Upgrade Program In India, Upgrade Every Year From Rs 3,333: How It Works

What is “100 Zeros”?

Google’s new attempt at blending storytelling with technology is all about encouraging and spreading their AI and spatial computing tools. Google has signed a multi-year partnership with Range Media Partners (the people behind titles like A Complete Unknown and Longlegs) to make 100 Zeros an immediate attraction for audiences. Google plans to scout, fund, and co-produce projects that explore or integrate its evolving technologies. Their main motive is to push AI and virtual spaces, wrapped in gripping film or TV narratives. news Also Read: ChatGPT Images Vs Gemini Nano Banana Pro: We Put It To Test And The Results Are Surprising

The initiative has already begun, as 100 Zeros backed the marketing for Cuckoo, an indie horror flick that stirred buzz last year. It’s also listed as a co-producer on the project via Letterboxd. news Also Read: Gemini 3 Flash Is Here: Google’s Fastest AI Model Yet?

Why is Google Venturing in films?

Hollywood is still catching its breath after the double strike in 2023 that halted productions and inflated budgets. On top of that, the new U.S. tariffs on foreign-made films have further complicated things for studios. Google sees this as an opportunity to step in and support creative productions by leveraging its technology.

The company is also doubling down on its earlier deal with Range Media. Just last month, it was revealed that they would co-commission films centered around artificial intelligence over the next 18 months. The first two films, Sweetwater and LUCID, are set to release later this year.

Google has previously tried to enter this space with YouTube Originals, but that effort missed the mark. 100 Zeros, on the other hand, is a completely different approach. Instead of hosting projects on YouTube, Google plans to sell them to traditional players like Netflix, Amazon Prime and other top streaming platforms.
