Google Announced New AI Feature for Gmail: Now Gemini AI Bot Will Schedule Events Right From Your Emails

Google keeps on bringing new features to its several platforms. Be it YouTube, Maps, Deep Mind, or Gmail, the tech giant always make sure to update its products to enhance the user experience. The recent reports reveal that the company has introduced a new feature that will allow users to easily add events to their calendar with the click of a button. The feature has been integrated via Gemini, Google’s AI-powered tool.

Here’s What We Know About the ‘Add to Calendar’ Feature on Gmail:

The  newly addition of ‘Add To Calendar’ button in Gmail will now simplifies your scheduling by automatically detecting events from your emails. From meeting invite to appointment, the feature will ensure that your scheduling is streamlined, saving your time. Additionally, the feature will make sure that you never miss important events and offering a quick way to add them to your Google Calendar.

The roll out is starting from 10th March and is expected to be complete by mid-April 2025

The official blog post reads, “In addition to asking Gemini in Gmail to perform calendar related actions or answer questions about your calendar, you can now add an event to your calendar directly from an email. With this update, Gemini will automatically detect calendar related content in your email and an “Add to calendar” button will appear. Upon clicking this option, the side panel in Gmail will open to confirm the event has been added to your calendar.”

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Use this Feature:

You need to have smart features and personalization options in order to access the Gemini in the side panel of workspace apps. If you are admin, then you can also turn on default personalization settings.

The feature is only available in English on web. In addition, the ‘Add to Calendar’ button will not appear for events that are already extracted from Gmail.

Another feature which is not included in the button is that you cannot add any other guests, which right now is a drawback, but company might introduce other addition in future.
