Meta keeps on adding features to its several platforms to increase user engagement and make things easier. Now the tech giant is updating how the livestream videos can be stored on Facebook. The company has announced that the livestream videos will be deleted after 30 days from Facebook. The new update will begin from 19th February.
Facebook announced on Tuesday that it will be updating how we store our livestream videos on the platform. The update will start rolling out on 19th February after which users will be able to replay, downloaded or shared any livestream videos for only 30 days. After the said time and period, the video will be automatically deleted. Earlier the videos were stored on Facebook for indefinite time.
As per Facebook blog post, “These changes will align our storage policies with industry standards and help ensure we are providing the most up-to-date live video experiences for everyone on Facebook.”
The company says that from 19th February any live videos older than 30 days will be automatically deleted from the platform. The deletion process will begin from today but will be rolled out in different stages and over the coming months. Additionally, Facebook is also providing different tools to its user to download their old livestreamed videos before they get deleted permanently.
For the deletion process, the company will send you a notification beforehand. As soon as you receive the notification, the company says you will have the 90 days time period to download your videos. You can either download them, transfer them, or convert it into reel, that’s totally depend on your choice.
If you don’t want your livestreamed videos to be deleted, then Facebook will give you an option of Defer Deletion. As soon as you enable this option, you will be given 6 months time period to decide the deletion of your old videos. After 6 months it will be deleted permanently.

There are several options through which you can download the video including Single Download, Bulk Download, Transfer Live Videos, Convert Your Live Videos to Reels.
You can download an individual video from your profile or your Meta Business Suite. Choose the video you want to download and then tap the full screen view. Now click on Choose Download option.
For bulk download, click on the notification on your device and click on download live videos. Choose the location for the downloaded videos. Now Choose the date range for the videos and tap create file.
You can transfer the live videos by tapping on the notification in order to enter the download flow. Click on Transfer Live Videos and select destination. Choose the linked cloud storage provider for example Google Drive or Dropbox. Click on Save.
If you want to keep special moments from your live videos to be safe then you can chip those moments from the livestreamed content and then combine them and convert them into reel.
