WWDC

Apple is all set to host its annual event Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 from 9 June to 13 June 2025. The keynote of the event will be happening on June 9 at 10:00AM PT (10:30PM IST). Interested people can watch the livestream on Apple’s website and YouTube. As always, Apple will be focusing on major software updates, however, this year there’s a growing excitement regarding upcoming hardware, most notably, the iPhone 17 series. Additionally, there could be an introduction of the ultra-thin model to be called the iPhone 17 Air.

In this article, we will cover everything expected at WWDC 2025, including iPhone 17 lineup, new Qi2.2 wireless charging, watchOS 26, AirPods, iOS  26, and more.

iPhone 17 Air: Apple’s Boldest Design Shift Yet?

One of the biggest surprise and highly-anticipated among the upcoming innovations could be iPhone 17 Air. The upcoming iPhone could be slim and light smartphone expected to debut officially in September 2025. Nevertheless, leaks and rumors suggest the iPhone 17 Air to be showcased at WWD 2025. The said iPhone is expected to be just 5.5mm thick and weigh a mere 146 grams.

In order to achieve this ultra-thin design, the rumor suggests that Apple might be taking a bold step and hence removing the USB-C port entirely. It means it will deliver a completely wireless experience. That means all charging, syncing, and data transfer could rely solely on MagSafe and wireless standards.

The iPhone 17 Air might come with:

  • A single 48MP rear camera
  • A 24MP front camera
  • A 2,800mAh battery, which is about 20% smaller than its predecessor
  • An aluminum frame, helping reduce weight

The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the Plus variant currently available in the iPhone lineup.

iPhone 17 Series: Massive Wireless Charging Leap

Multiple reports suggest that Apple is expected to introduce a wireless charging speeds up to 45W which is nearly double the current 25W speeds on iPhone 16. There was a regulatory listing in Taiwan via the NCC that revealed two new MagSafe chargers with a model numbers A3502 and A3503. The model numbers suggests that there could be support for Qi2.2 wireless standard along with charging speeds up to 45W. In addition, the tech giant could introduce 1-metre and 2-metre braided cable options

If this addition happens then it could position Apple ahead of Samsung’s current wireless charging limit of 15W on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and make the iPhone 17 series the fastest wireless charging iPhones ever.

watchOS 26: Third-Party Control Centre Widgets Are Coming

Talking about the watchOS 26, which is yet again one of the biggest updates that we will be seeing on the Aple Watch. The upcoming watchOS 26is expected to support third-party Control Centre widgets that will give users and developers more customization options.

Key Features of watchOS 26

  • Custom widget layout controlled via iPhone
  • Expanded Control Centre actions beyond defaults like Airplane Mode and Flashlight
  • Greater personalization for frequently used features

AirPods: Smarter and More Intuitive

Apple is also making its AirPods much smarter than the previous models and hence the company is reported to be working on the enhanced gesture controls for the upcoming AirPods 4 and Airpods 2.

iOS 26: Coming Next Year, But What’s the Buzz?

While iOS 19 is not expected at WWDC 2025, there is speculation that Apple may skip multiple version numbers and jump straight to iOS 26 in 2026. Though iOS 26 will likely be formally introduced next year, WWDC 2025 will still spotlight iOS 18, bringing more AI-based features, smarter Siri enhancements, and better cross-device integration.
