Apple has reportedly started working with Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba to bring Apple Intelligence for iPhones in China. The company did lots of research and talks with several other tech giants before finalizing Alibaba and both the companies are now developing AI features for iPhones in Chinese market. According to unnamed sources, both the companies have already collaborated to develop several AI features for iPhones.
However, nothing has been officially confirmed and no specific details about the features were disclosed. Additionally, the report also states that the developed features were submitted to the China’s cyberspace regulatory authority for their approval. To recall, it has to be confirmed with the Chinese government to bring any AI powered feature in the country.
The report was first reported by the US tech industry publication ‘The Information.’ The deal is seen as a way to strengthening relation with China as Apple is facing difficulties in driving iPhone sales in the country. Apple is facing a tough competition in the world’s largest smartphone market as it is unable to deliver Apple Intelligence features to iPhones in Chna.
Nevertheless, by partnering with Chinese giant Alibaba, Apple is looking for a way to have an edge by integrating AI capabilities to its devices. AI features or Apple Intelligence are crucial for appealing to the tech-savvy Chinese consumer. This will make Apple more competitive against domestic rivals in China. Additionally, the deal will help Apple to navigate local regulatory requirements in China and will boost their product offerings.
The deal among Apple and Alibaba could be seen playing a key role in revitalizing iPhone sales in China as it plays an essential role in Apple’s long-term growth in the country.
