Samsung is a leader in the foldable smartphone segment, making it one of the biggest manufacturers in the foldable industry. However, Royole FlexPai was the first foldable smartphone by Chinese company Royole. The smartphone was announced in 2018. The foldable smartphone market has seen the decline for the first time in Q3 of 2024. As per Display Supply Chain, the market has just rise by 5% in 2024 and is expected to fall by 4% in 2025. However, it also enjoyed a growth of 40% per year from 2019-2023, but it seems 2024 and 2025 would see the greatest fall of all time in foldable smartphone segment. If that is the case, then Apple can prove to be the savior in this by reviving the failing foldable market.

Additionally, as per other reports, Apple could also debut the clamshell form factor in its upcoming foldable smartphone. To recall, we get the clamshell form factor in Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Moto Razr Ultra. If Apple is working on a foldable iPhone then the market could see the 30% growth in the foldable market, following 20% in 2027 and 2028. If reports are to be believed, then the first foldable iPhone from Apple might feature the screen size of 7.9 and 8.3 inches. Whatever be the case, we can’t wait enough for the foldable iPhone!
