Apple retail is believed to be preparing another product update, which may be a new launch or a new season. It is reported that Apple has an event called an overnight event, which is planned on November 12. In this event, the store workers update the shelves with the products and relocate the devices once the stores are closed. Such an exercise is traditionally an indication of impending product launches; for example, it happened at the time when the iPhone 17 went on sale on September 19 and the M5-powered MacBook Pro on October 22.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said that the Apple workers have been told to do the overnight setup on November 11, in order to get the stores ready the following day. Although the Cupertino-based company has not officially declared new releases, the move indicates that the stores are either being prepared to release a new product or to take up the holiday season.
The Overnight events are usually associated with future launches, but this case can also target thematic store arrangements, promotional exhibitions, and holiday-prepared displays.
Upgrades to some of Apple’s current product lines are rumored to be imminent. The Apple TV streaming devices and HomePod mini are reportedly candidates for refreshes, potentially featuring new chipsets and enhanced in-house wireless components. Gurman notes that the fact that these devices are not readily available in stores may be a sign of an upcoming update.
Although it is still unknown if these products will formally debut during the overnight event on November 12 or at a later time, the preparations indicate that announcements may be on the horizon.
In an Apple earnings call in Q3, the CEO Tim Cook spoke of his company being excited to share its most extraordinary product lineup with the advent of the holiday season. This message is congruent with the overnight preparations, implying that the store arrangements can also feature the seasonal displays, thematic decorations, and promotion plans that will appeal to the customers at the time when the shopping season is in the high. Although it does not support the hypothesis of a new product, it means that Apple is planning its retail experience in the coming months.
