Apple is expected to launch MacBook with OLED display in 2024: Kuo

Tech giant Apple will reportedly launch its new MacBook with an OLED display before the end of next year. Meanwhile, last month, a report mentioned that the demand for mini-LED displays in consumer products is shrinking, according to Apple’s key mini-LED supplier, while the demand for these displays in other use cases is rising in anticipation of the company’s transition to OLED displays for the iPad and MacBook. According to Kuo, OLED displays allows laptops to be thinner and lighter as compared to laptops with a mini-LED display. Currently, MacBook Pro 14 and 16, and the iPad Pro 12 feature a mini-LED display. Notably, OLED displays can also be used for foldable devices, unlike mini-LEDs.

In June last year, it was reported that the iPhone maker might launch a 13-inch MacBook model with an OLED display in 2024.

Notably, industry insider Ross Young, has suggested that Apple will announce a 13-inch OLED MacBook Air by 2024, however, it is not yet confirmed if this will be the company’s first MacBook with an OLED display.

For the unversed, it was recently reported that Indian government is planning to launch MacBooks and iPads in India soon. As per the report, “the Indian government is looking forward to broadening the scope of its production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware to around Rs 20,000 crore instead of the existing Rs 7,350 crore.”
