Apple is all set for its new iPhone lineup with fresh software updates. While most attention is on iOS 26 this September, the tech giant is also working on iOS 18.7 for older iPhones, such as the iPhone 16, iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and more. iOS 18.7 will not just be about flashy or new features, but it will also focus on keeping the devices secure and stable.
Apple is expected to roll out iOS 18.7 in September, ahead of iOS 16 becoming available for newer iPhones. The update will mostly fix security loopholes and improve performance in older iPhones.
The update will also mark one of the last times when iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR owners will see new software. These models won’t support iOS 26. Additionally, for users of these devices, iOS 18.7 will help extend the life of their phones with critical fixes.
While iOS 18.7 will be focused on older iPhones, iOS 26 will be the real highlight of the Apple event on September 9. The iOS 26 is compatible with iPhone 11 and new models, and has been in beta testing for months. It is now closed for its public release.
Following Apple’s usual schedule, the update is likely to arrive around mid-September. Past iOS rollouts have almost always landed in September, making this timeline consistent with Apple’s tradition.
