In a surprising move, Apple is reported to delay some of the features of the Apple Intelligence. Reportedly, these features were about to be released in iOS 18. A spokesperson gave an official statement to a website named ‘Daring Fireball.’

“Siri helps our users find what they need and get things done quickly, and in just the past six months, we’ve made Siri more conversational, introduced new features like type to Siri and product knowledge, and added an integration with ChatGPT. We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year,” says Jacqueline Roy, Apple’s spokesperson.

At the WWDC 2024, Apple said that the more conversational Siri is underway and the company is expecting it to bring it onboard in 2025. But it seems, things are getting delayed and the tech giant might not bring the enhanced and more personalized Siri experience this year. The enhanced features that the company was talking about were personal context, onscreen awareness, and improved app integration. However, we might have to wait until 2026 for these features to use on our iPhones.

Additionally, another report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also highlighted the fact that Apple might delay the advanced Siri features for 2026. The features are more complex and the decision of delaying it signals a shift in focus for the company, prioritizing thorough development and quality assurance over rushing to release new AI features. Mark Gurman mentions about the delay in his report and says, “voiced strong concerns internally that the features didn’t work properly — or as advertised — in their personal testing. believe that work on the features could be scrapped altogether” and that the features may have to be rebuilt “from scratch.”

The delay also signals the tough competition in the artificial intelligence and virtual assistant space and the tech giant want the Siri and Apple Intelligence to be perfect. Reportedly, Apple is facing challenge while perfecting the Siri and hence the delay was not due to the concern of privacy but the focus of integrating AI into both hardware and software, which takes time to perfect across different devices.
