How AI Is Building This Decision?

While AI may not directly be involved, but AI is somewhere or other influencing how companies are hiring their employees. This has been further confirmed by Recruit CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba in an internal memo received by Reuters. He highlighted the growing role of AI in recruitment while explaining that AI is changing how the world works and that the company must evolve to deliver better results for both job seekers and employers.

He also shared that AI already writes a third of Recruit’s code, and this figure could go up to 50% soon. The company aims to cut down on manual hiring processes by integrating AI and data more deeply into its platforms. Well, this is not the story of just startups, but this trend has been followed by several tech giants such as Microsoft, Meta, and IBM, who have cut down their workforce in 2025 while increasing investment in AI.

Glassdoor-Indeed Merger

It is not just about the layoffs, but Glassdoor will now be merged into Indeed, the report added. As part of this deal, Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong will step down on October 1. LaFawn Davis, Indeed’s Chief People and Sustainability Officer, will also exit on September 1 as she will be replaced by Ayano Senaha, Recruit’s current COO.

Recruit acquired Indeed in 2012 and Glassdoor in 2018, and now this merger of Indeed and Glassdoor will make for better operations under one roof.
