5G Smartphones Dominate India’s Market in Q2 2025, Affordable Devices Fuel Demand Surge

India is a hub for the smartphone industry, and it’s rapidly shifting toward 5G. As per the latest report by CyberMedia Research (CMR), India witnessed a massive shipment of 87% between April and June 2025. The report indicates that this shipment mostly includes 5G-enabled smartphones. As compared to the last year, this year marked a shift of 20% increase that highlights a strong consumer shift toward faster connectivity.

Here’s What the Report Says

As per a report from CyberMedia Research, the demand for affordable 5G smartphones is increasing in India, especially in the Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000 price segment. This segment witnessed a staggering 600% year-on-year growth. In addition, this particular price segment also observed over 138% growth during the quarter.

As per Menka Kumari, senior analyst at CMR’s Industry Intelligence Group, this surge is being driven by first-time upgraders looking for budget-friendly 5G devices that still deliver solid value.

Apple Takes Centre Stage in Premium Segment

Talking about the premium smartphone sales, this segment also saw a major movement, wherein Apple captured 7% of the Indian smartphone market in Q2 2025. iPhone 16e proved to be the major key for the brand’s growth in the segment priced above Rs 50,000. Apple saw its market share grow 54% year-on-year, according to the report.

Vivo and Samsung Also Played a Major Role

Not only Apple, Vivo, and Samsung played a major role in the growth, with Vivo taking the lead with 19% market share, followed by Samsung with 16% in the overall ranking. The report further highlights the second quarter of 2025, which is expected to a moderate growth in smartphone shipments. The country is projected to observe single-digit earnings.

Upcoming smartphone launches will also play an essential role, especially during India’s festival season, and hence, several smartphone manufacturers are likely to bring waves of upgrades to upcoming devices.
