Vivo has officially unveiled the X Fold 5 in China, and this could be one of the best foldables on the market. It’s also claiming the title of the world’s lightest large-format foldable, weighing just around 217g in its Titanium edition. This foldable flagship brings some truly premium features and innovations. Here’s a closer look at everything it offers. The Vivo X Fold 5 features a large 8.03-inch inner AMOLED panel with a 2K+ resolution and also supports LTPO adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz. This is a total flagship-level display and boasts a peak brightness of 4500 nits. Also Read: Vivo X Fold 5 Vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: 8 Differences To Know Between These Foldables
On the other side, the outer screen is a 6.53-inch FHD+ AMOLED with the same refresh rate and brightness levels. The visuals are elevated as both displays support Dolby Vision with 10.7 billion colours and high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. For durability, the inner panel uses ultra-thin UTG glass, while the outer display is protected by second-generation Armor Glass.
Under the hood, the foldable is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Although this might not be as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite, it still offers great performance. Vivo has also teamed up with Qualcomm to improve connectivity when the device is folded, and it runs on OriginOS 5 based on Android 15. There’s also a new multitasking feature called Atomic Workbench, which allows users to run up to five apps at once in split-screen mode for smoother productivity.
One of the most interesting additions is cross-ecosystem support. The Vivo X Fold 5 surprisingly pairs with the Apple Watch (Series 6 and above) and even allows drag-and-drop file transfers with MacBooks. This makes the foldable incredibly flexible for users who operate across different platforms.
In terms of photography, the X Fold 5 packs a ZEISS-enhanced triple rear camera system. It features a 50 MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP IMX882 periscope telephoto camera offering 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom. With ZEISS on board, Vivo is taking phone photography to a whole new level. This setup also brings professional-grade features like enhanced portrait modes, macro photography, and low-light performance.
On the battery side, the phone features a 6000mAh Blue Ocean battery. This uses cutting-edge semi-solid state and silicon anode technologies to deliver top-tier performance. It also supports 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
For added durability, Vivo has also included a redesigned hinge built from FS55 high-strength steel and carbon fiber. It is the first foldable to be certified with IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water resistance ratings, along with IP5X for dust protection.
