We were all expecting, if not the launch, but a slight glimpse of the tri-fold phone by Samsung during the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE launch event. Well, that didn’t happen. But as per a report by Android Authority, the tri-fold phone by the tech giant is fully designed and even ready for mass production, a Samsung executive suggested.

Samsung has quietly finished developing its first tri-fold smartphone, expected to be called Galaxy G Fold, but don’t expect to see it in stores just yet. The report suggested that the company is still debating whether the world is ready for this new kind of foldable device.

What’s Stopping Samsung?

According to the executive, the issue isn’t technical. The phone is fully designed and could go into production right now. But Samsung is questioning its viability. In other words, is there enough demand for a triple-screen phone?

“We’ve had a tri-fold for some time, designed and everything,” the report quoted the Samsung executive. “What we’re debating is the viability. Is there really a demand for this form factor?”

Samsung Tri-Fold Phone: Specs, Features, and Possible Launch Plans

Despite the hesitation, leaks and reports suggest the Galaxy G Fold could quietly launch in China and South Korea by the end of 2025. Production may begin as early as September. This soft release could help Samsung test interest before a wider global launch.

Based on leaks and rumours, it may feature a 10-inch AMOLED display when unfolded, and may pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor under the hood. For photography, it is expected to get a 200MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP 3x zoom, and 10MP front camera. It is also suggested to get a Titanium frame and an IP48 water/dust resistance.

Talking about the price, the device could cost over four million Korean won — roughly $3,000 (Rs 2.4 lakh), which is significantly more than Samsung’s current top-end foldable, the report hints.

When Will It Launch?

At this point, the question seems to be “when” not “if.” Samsung is likely waiting for market signals — and maybe a little more consumer excitement — before pulling the trigger. Until then, the Galaxy G Fold remains a real product, just not a released one.
