Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone might be its most exclusive foldable yet. According to a new report from South Korea’s The Elec, the company has produced only around 20,000 to 30,000 units of the dual-hinged device, suggesting that it plans to take a cautious approach with the product’s rollout. The report says Samsung is deliberately keeping production low to assess how consumers respond to its first triple-folding smartphone. The company’s restrained output reflects the complexity of the design and the high manufacturing costs involved. Industry sources cited in the report claim that Samsung has not placed any additional component orders so far, leaving suppliers waiting for direction until at least December, when a decision on further production is expected. The Galaxy Z TriFold was first shown publicly at APEC 2025, giving everyone a look at Samsung’s new dual-hinge design. The setup lets the display unfold from 6.5 inches to 10 inches, turning the phone into a tablet-sized device. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold series, this one folds twice instead of once. With an expected price of around $2,500 (roughly Rs 2.21 lakh) and a limited release plan, Samsung seems to be treating the TriFold more as a premium concept device than a regular mainstream launch. Samsung’s strategy with the TriFold looks quite different from what it did with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Fold 7 turned out to be more successful than expected, leading Samsung to ramp up production by about 260,000 units in September. The TriFold, on the other hand, is being made in much smaller numbers. This shows that Samsung is being cautious, likely testing the waters before committing to large-scale manufacturing.
Industry analysts believe the Galaxy Z TriFold is meant to test how people respond to a triple-folding phone rather than chase sales figures right away. It’s expected to launch only in select markets — South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE — making it one of Samsung’s most limited and exclusive foldables so far.
