Smartphone manufacturers are continuing to chase innovations, and hence, every year companies like Samsung, Apple, and more are bringing some or the other technological advancements to their smartphones. In this regard, Samsung seems poised to make a bold move with its next Ultra flagship.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to arrive in 2026, reportedly with a significant upgrade. This advancement and display upgrade will not just set apart Galaxy S26 Ultra from its Android rivals, but also from Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The highlight of this upgrade is the next-gen OLED screen that could dramatically improve the visual performance while being more power efficient.
As per rumors and leaks, at the heart of this upgrade will be a new display material dubbed CoE OLED. This is a short for the Colour-on-Emitter OLED. Unlike traditional OLED panels that separate the light-emitting layer from the color filter, CoE OLED fuses them into a single layer.
This change will not just reduce the amount of light lot during transmission, but will also allow the screen to deliver brighter visuals that too using less energy.
For users, this means a display that not only looks more vibrant in daylight but also conserves battery life.

Adding the colour filters near light source will enable the screen to display purer and truer colors that is reported to be more lifelike. No matter what you are watching in high definition videos or playing resource demanding games, the output should be a sharper experience.
Also, some rumors indicate that Samsung might incorporate addition of a depolarizer layer in order to minimize the internal reflections on the screen. This would improve sharpness and contrast, especially in high-light environments, further refining the viewing experience.

If the rumours hold true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could deliver one of the best displays ever seen on a smartphone. Samsung is clearly betting big on display innovation, aiming to take the lead once again in a space where it already dominates. While the launch is still months away, anticipation is growing as we wait to see if these new technologies will truly redefine mobile screens in 2026.
