
Redmi launched a budget 5G smartphone earlier this week in India. The Redmi 13 5G succeeds the Redmi 12 5G from last year and comes with a few upgrades, including a new camera system, an updated chipset, and the latest available operating system. Starting today, the smartphone will go on its first sale in India. The device will be available online and at Xiaomi stores at a discounted price in the initial sale. The Redmi 13 5G’s first sale begins today at 12 PM on Amazon. It will also be available on mi.com and at Xiaomi Retail stores nationwide. The device costs Rs 13,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and Rs 15,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. However, Xiaomi will offer Rs 1,000 offer, taking the final price down to Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999, respectively.

The Redmi 13 5G builds on the design of the Redmi 12 5G. It features a large 6.79-inch punch-hole LCD display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 550 nits of peak brightness, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It has a 13MP camera on the front placed in the punch-hole of the screen. There’s a dual-rear camera system with a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM6 main lens and a 2MP macro sensor.
Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE (Accelerated Engine) processor, a slightly update chip than the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 inside the Redmi 12 5G. The device has up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It packs a 5,030mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. It boots on Android 14 out of the box with HyperOS on top. The skin brings a Xiaomi Dialer that doesn’t announce calls before recording.
As for security, it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security. In terms of connectivity, the device has 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, and GPS. The device also has an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance. Lastly, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio and an IR blaster for controlling gadgets near you.
