Android 16 has already become the talk of the town with its latest Beta 2 releases with OnePlus making headlines by including its OnePlus 13 as the first Android smartphone, outside of Google’s Pixel lineup to receive the Android 16 Beta 2 update. Google is expected to roll out the stable version of the Android 16 earlier than expected this year and the tech giant is currently testing as well as fixing Android 16 in the Beta 3 version. Whatever the case, OnePlus highlighted its growing influence in the Android ecosystem by being the first Android smartphone outside of Pixel to get the Android 16 Beta 2 version.

The Android 16 Beta 2 is right now available for the developers and advanced users, as per official OnePlus Community post. This allows and gives opportunity to app developers and early adopters in OnePlus community to build more secured and better software experiences. Nevertheless, the OnePlus Community guidelines strict you to have the Android 16 Beta 2 version if you have these limitations.

  • The company says if you are someone who has little o no experience with software development, you shouldn’t go for the Android 16 Beta 2 version.
  • If you use your smartphone as daily driver.
  • If you are unfamiliar with flashing custom ROM’s.

The tech giant also mentions that Verizon and T-Mobile carrier devices are incompatible with the Android 16 Beta 2 version and hence you shouldn’t go for the older Beta 1 build. If you are going for the update, then make sure you have backed up your data as there will be data wipe out in the process. The company also listed some of the known issues mentioned on the community guidelines.

Here are the listed issues:

  • Unable to close the version update pop-up after upgrading to the DPP version.
  • Font weight settings cannot be adjusted.
  • Device may restart when answering a call using Bluetooth headsets.
  • Lag and display errors in the camera viewfinder and thumbnail in certain scenarios.
  • Blurry or unclear camera viewfinder in some cases.
  • Camera crashes when switching to Macro mode with the rear camera.
  • Crashes and lag after enabling Ultra Steady mode.
  • Display error in the camera viewfinder during video recording in specific scenarios.
  • Screen may freeze when tapping the accessibility shortcut button on the home screen.
  • Lag observed when locking the screen.
