OnePlus 12R new update brings fixes for better battery life, security patches
OnePlus is now rolling out a new software update for the OnePlus 12R, which was launched in India earlier this year alongside the OnePlus 12.

The device has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, 50MP triple cameras, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It packs a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging and runs on OxygenOS based on Android 14.

OnePlus 12R is now receiving a new software update focusing mainly on its battery life. This minor update for the 12R “optimises power consumption to extend battery life,” according to the release notes. Other than that, it is an incremental upgrade for the toned-down OnePlus 12 and brings many other bug fixes and the latest Android security patch.

- Integrates the May 2024 Android security patch to enhance system security
- Improves system stability.
- Optimises power consumption to extend battery life.
- Fixes an issue where the volume from the speaker and Bluetooth earphones might be low.
- Fixes an issue that might cause the Home screen wallpaper to flicker after you close an app.
- Fixes a display issue where an app icon on the Home screen might move slightly from where it should be after closing the app.
Although the new update has squished most known bugs, OnePlus has urged users to contact should they experience issues even after updating the software by dialling *#800# from the phone’s Google Dialer app.
How to update your OnePlus 12R
Go to your 12R’s Settings, followed by a tap on About Device. Head to the OxygenOS section now and tap on Check for Update. If the update is available for your device, it will show up here along with the entire changelog and the update size. The report has mentioned that OnePlus is rolling out the new update incrementally in India, meaning a handful of devices have received it for now. A broader rollout should follow soon. That means you may or may not see the update for your unit immediately.
