iPhone 16 may have the thinnest bezel on an iPhone yet

Apple could introduce the next iPhone series, likely the iPhone 16, sometime in September this year. While there are still some months to go, the rumours are already pouring in, hinting at various changes that customers may see in the next iPhone. A new report has suggested that the iPhone 16 will use a new technology to ensure the thinnest bezel on an iPhone by far. Apple could be going for a new ultra-thin bezel technology to maximise the display size on the next iPhone by reducing the bezel on it. New technology

As reported by Sisa Journal, Apple is planning a small but significant change to the overall look of the next iPhone. For that, it will use Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology to reduce the bezel at the bottom of the display. This technology involves rolling up the internal copper wiring even further to make it more compact, leaving space for the display to extend to the chin. The report said Apple has planned to use the BRS technology on all four iPhone models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Not the first time

If successful, this would be the first time an iPhone will have a negligible bezel on the bottom. However, Apple has tried to ensure that previously, too. According to the report, Apple attempted to apply the same technology to earlier iPhone models, but because of heat issues, the design became unfeasible. This time, Apple is leveraging recent heat distribution technology improvements to ensure the same issues do not come up. Last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models had narrower bezels, thanks to the LIPO or low-injection pressure over-moulding technology that allowed reducing the border area to 1.5mm from 2.2mm on the iPhone 14 Pro. Bigger displays

Since the display area will likely increase with the implementation of the new technology, Apple may also tweak the display sizes on the iPhone 16. For a long time, Apple has stuck to the same display sizes for its iPhone models. That may change this time. Several reports have pointed out that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have bigger displays than their previous generations. While the iPhone 16 Pro may feature a 6.27-inch display, the iPhone 16 Pro Max may pack a 6.85-inch screen. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, on the other hand, use 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.
