Foldables are one of the best form factors when it comes to increasing productivity. But the main issue is that because of their components, they aren’t able to offer the best battery life. But it looks like Honor might be ready to shake things up. 

Honor is all set to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphone with a massive battery. The brand has confirmed ahead of the launch that the Magic V5 will pack a massive 6100mAh Qinghai Lake blade battery, setting a new benchmark for foldables.

This new battery features a high-silicon anode with 25% silicon content, which Honor claims is a first in mass production. This is the main reason Honor is able to keep its foldable thin, even after packing in such a massive battery.

Leading the Pack 

With its 6100mAh capacity, the Magic V5 now leads the pack in the foldable category. It beats the Oppo Find N5’s 5,600mAh unit and even edges out the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5, which is rumoured to pack a 6,000mAh battery. 

This could really mark the beginning of a shift where we start seeing foldables with larger batteries. It also makes the whole foldable space more competitive and gives tough competition to tech giants like Samsung and Google. 

Honor also takes things up a notch with its proprietary AI Dujiangyan power management system. The brand claims that it helps deliver the longest battery life ever seen on a foldable. The best part is that despite packing such a large battery, the Honor Magic V5 reportedly manages to stay incredibly slim and lightweight. The foldable is said to measure just 8.8mm thick when folded and weighs around 217 grams. This makes it one of the thinnest and lightest in the category.

Talking about specifications, this foldable is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, promising flagship-level performance. The camera setup is expected to include a variable aperture and 3x optical periscope zoom capabilities.

Pricing and Availability 

The Honor Magic V5 is launching globally on July 2. The pricing seems to be under wraps for now, and more details about the phone will be revealed at the official event.
