Google today announced new features that will be coming to its Pixel devices in the coming months. While the company has added a number of utilitarian features, such as transcription summaries for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a smartphones, the biggest update of the lot remains the availability of Gemini Nano on the two smartphones. For the unversed, Gemini Nano is a part of Google’s Gemini model family. It provides on-device AI features on Android devices. The list of features that Gemini Nano supports includes Speech transcription, text summary and talk back to name a few. Gemini Nano support on Pixel 8 Pro arrived in December 2023 and now the company is bringing the same to other devices in the Pixel 8 family. Gemini Nano
As mentioned before, Gemini Nano is coming to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a. To access Gemini Nano users will first have to enable it as a developer option.
To enable this feature, follow these steps: Go to Settings > About phone > scroll Down and tap the Build seven times > enter your screen lock > go back to Settings > System > Developer options > Gemini Nano.
Transcription Summary
Gemini Nano now provides a summary of the recorded call on Pixel 8 and 8a. It also delivers a more detailed, downloadable summaries on the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a smartphones. Google says that the updated on-device AI model helps it to detect and include the names of speakers so conversational transcripts are improved.
Furthermore, users can also export these transcripts into text files or Google Docs.
Project videos on a big screen
Another feature coming to the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will let these devices to display content on a larger screen, such as a computer monitor. Users can connect their Pixel 8 device to the bigger screen using USB Type-C to use this feature.
Improved Find my Device
Google has also made changes to its Find My Device feature. This feature now lets users to locate their phone even when it is turned off or the battery is dead.
Better image capture
Google says that the Pixel camera can now automatically identify the best moment from a user’s photo in HDR+ with just a single shutter press. This makes it easier to snap a photo where the user’s face is in focus and smiling.
Additionally, Google Pixel’s camera now lets users to manually pick which camera lens they want to use while taking photos. This gives users more control over capturing the perfect shot.
Reverse phone number search
Google has also introduced reverse phone number search directly from their call log on their Pixel smartphones.
