Apple is all set for its highly anticipated ‘Awe Dropping’ event tomorrow, revealing the iPhone 17 lineup. Nevertheless, new rumors have emerged ahead of the official launch about the next iPhone launch in 2026 and 2027. There have been several leaks and rumors coming to the forefront about what was once expected to be iPhone 18 is now seemingly pointing toward iPhone 19. This means rather than expecting iPhone 18 in 2026, Apple fans might see the iPhone 19 lineup.

Here’s What We Know About iPhone 19

To recall, back in July 2024, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned about how Apple would be shifting its strategy for its supply chain in the future. The report from Kuo suggested that Apple is expected to receive 48MP ultra-wide camera sensors from Samsung rather than Sony, who is is the official and primary supplier of iPhone camera sensors.

Apple is reported to bring Samsung’s sensor in the 2026 iPhone lineup. However, in a new report, Kuo revised the timeline and is now projecting the first iPhones with Samsung’s sensors to be launched in 2027. This effectively shifts the rumored feature to some iPhone 19 models, instead of the iPhone 18.

To recall, Apple has relied on Sony for many years for its iPhone camera modules, including wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto sensors.

Which Technology to be Used in the Sensors

The chip in question is the three-layer stacked image sensors along with a design that provides higher pixel density along with enhanced low-light performance. This will be done by vertically stacking multiple sensor layers.

This architecture also offers additional benefits such as improved dynamic range and lower power consumption.

Last month, Apple confirmed that it would receive these advanced chips from Samsung, manufactured in Texas. This development highlights Apple’s ongoing efforts to diversify its supply chain while continuing to push the limits of camera technology.

The collaboration could bring exciting improvements to future iPhone models, even if the changes are a few years away.
