Apple and Samsung are the two most prominent smartphone manufacturers that continue to dominate the market with their flagship devices. Their latest smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Apple’s newly launched iPhone 17 Pro Max, are creating buzz among smartphone enthusiasts worldwide. Apple hailed its iPhone 17 Pro Max as the company’s most powerful iPhone to date; however, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra brings down its own blend of performance and photography excellence.

Price in India

Apple launched its iPhone 17 Pro Max, catering to buyers looking for a flagship performance, and that’s the reason the smartphone starts at Rs 1,49,900 for the 256GB storage option. It is also available in two other storage variants, including the 512GB model, which costs Rs 1,69,900, and the 1TB option, priced at Rs 1,89,900. The tech giant added one more high-end variant of the 2 TB that comes in at Rs 2,29,900.

Apple offers the device in three shades: Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue.

Talking about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is slightly priced lower than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Its 256GB variant costs Rs 1,29,999, while the 512GB model is priced at Rs 1,41,999. Nevertheless, the 1TB version comes at Rs 1,65,999. It is available in three color options, including Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Grey, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Black.

Design and Display

Apple has brought some notable changes in its iPhone 17 Pro Max, including a unibody build and a new rectangular full-width camera at the back. The device is protected by the Ceramic Shield 2 and has an IP68 rating. For display, the iPhone 17 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with ProMotion support up to 120Hz. Other features include HDR, True Tone, Always-On display, and an anti-reflective coating.

As far as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is concerned, the smartphone features vertically aligned cameras on the rear panel. It is equipped with the IP68 rating and comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone sports a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1400 x 3120 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and peak brightness of up to 2600 nits.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is powered by Apple’s latest A19 Pro chipset, offering 40% better performance compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It features up to 2TB of storage, a vapor chamber cooling system, and runs on iOS 26 right out of the box.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 1TB storage. Samsung has also added a 40 percent larger vapor cooling chamber to the device. It runs on Android 15 with One UI 7 on top and comes with a promise of seven years of software and security updates.

Camera Comparison

This time, Apple has upscale its camera system in iPhone 17 Pro Max, including a triple 48MP Fusion camera system. The device packs a primary sensor, an ultrawide sensor, and a telephoto lens. The rear setup supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording, while the front houses an 18MP camera with features like Centre Stage and Retina Flash.

Samsung takes the lead in numbers with its quad-camera setup. The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, a 50MP 5x telephoto lens, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera. It also supports 8K video recording. At the front, there is a 12MP selfie camera.

Battery and Charging

Apple never reveals the battery capacity of its iPhone, and even this time the battery is under wraps, but the company claims that the iPhone 17 Pro Max delivers the longest battery life ever seen in an iPhone. As per Apple, it can last up to 37 hours of video playback, with fast charging that gives 50 percent in about 20 minutes using a 40W charger. MagSafe wireless charging is also supported.
