Apple’s foldable iPhone is getting all the attention for its rumored design and enhancements. It is one of the most anticipated devices by Apple, and rumors have it that it could launch in 2026. But what’s even more interesting is its design and thickness. Early reports indicate that the foldable iPhone design will be heavily borrowed from the iPhone 17 Air, expected to combine practicality with elegance in a slim and durable form factor.
While we don’t know much about the foldable iPhone, reports and leaks hint toward its design, display, thickness, and more.
Apple’s Foldable iPhone’s Design inspired by the iPhone Air
As per a report coming from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to resemble two iPhone 17 Air units joined together by a hinge. If this happens, then the foldable iPhone could come with a thin profile even when unfolded. It might suggest a thickness of just 4.5mm to 4.88mm.
For context, the iPhone 17 Air measures 5.6mm, while competitors like the Pixel Fold and Galaxy Z Fold7 are 10.8mm and 8.9mm thick, respectively. Other than this, Apple is also reported to use titanium for the foldable iPhone to maintain the premium feel.
Display and Usability
Talking about the display, Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone is expected to pack a 7.5-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external screen. The dual screen approach aims to balance convenience and functionality. The design emphasizes Apple’s focus on usability without compromising its signature slim aesthetics.
Apple Foldable iPhone Expected Price
Reportedly, Apple’s foldable iPhone could be priced above $2,000 (around Rs 1.6 lakh), positioning it above the price of iPhone 17 Pro Max for its 256GB storage variant.
Production Plans and Global Strategy
While primary manufacturing is expected at Foxconn in China, Apple is reportedly exploring pilot production in Taiwan and eventual assembly in India. This aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its supply chain while leveraging India’s growing role in flagship iPhone production. Such a move could also impact pricing and availability in the Indian market.
