Android update: Google has announced a major update for Android devices. This update brings seven new features to all Android devices, which includes the ability to edit messages — a feature that iPhones got with the roll out iOS 16. New features coming to Android phones

With this update, Android smartphones will get the ability to edit messages. Essentially, Android users will be able to hold any text message that they have shared in a messaging app, such as Google Messages, to edit it. Users will get a time of up to 15 minutes to edit any sent message.

Instant Hotspot

This feature will be rolled out to Android smartphones soon. It will enable Android users to connect their Android tablets or Chromebooks to their phone’s hotspot with a single tap.

This feature will also let users to change devices in the middle of a Google Meet call by tapping the Cast icon to switch between their connected devices. “And if you need to change devices in the middle of a Google Meet call, you’ll be able to tap the Cast icon to seamlessly switch between your connected devices so you can move between your Android phone, tablet or web browser,” the company wrote in its blog post.

Updated Google Home Favourite widget

Google has also updated the Google Home Favourite widget. Android smartphone users can now add the Google Home Favorites widget to their phone’s home screen to manage and control their most-used smart devices.

Simply put, users will be able to access their most used smart home devices from a single widget on their phone’s home screen.

Digital Car Key

Google is expanding support for digital car keys to more vehicles. Google has made this feature available to select MINI variants and soon it will support select Mercedes-Benz and Polestar vehicles.

So, what does this feature do? It lets users lock, unlock and start their cars using just their Android phones.

Better Emojis

Google is also bringing more Emoji Kitchen combinations to Android phones. ” Get ready for festival season by remixing your favorite emoji, like the disco ball and headphones, and sharing them with your friends as stickers via Gboard,” Google added.

Control smart devices from smartwatch

Google is also bringing the Google Home Favorites tile and complication to Wear OS powered smartwatches. This feature will let users control their most used smart home devices using their smartwatches.

Google Wallet on smartwatch

Lastly, Google is bringing the Google Wallet app to Wear OS powered smartwatches. This feature is being rolled out to users in the US and Germany and it will let users make payments with PayPal on Google Wallet from their Wear OS-powered smartwatch.
