Telegram has announced a new feature that lets users create their own stickers from scratch. This feature lets users turn any of their existing images from the Photos app on their smartphones into a sticker by adding text, drawings, emojis, stickers and more to them. The new sticker-maker feature was announced by Telegram founder Pavel Durov in a post on his official Telegram handle wherein he hailed at a game-changer.

“Creating sticker packs has never been so easy. The sticker platform has existed on Telegram since 2015, but it has now been truly democratized,” Durov wrote in his post on Telegram.

How to create a sticker on Telegram

Step 1: Open the Telegram chat where you want to create and share the sticker that you designed.

Step 2: Tap the Sticker icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Tap the Sticker icon at the bottom and then tap the ‘+’ icon.

Step 4: Select the image that you want to use as the sticker.

Step 5: Tap the ‘Cut Out an Object’ option.

Step 6: Tap the Add Outline mode option to create an outline.

Step 7: Tap the Text option to add text. Then tap the Sticker button to add sticker. You can also tap the Draw button to get more creative.

Step 8: Tap the Done button and then tap the Send button again to share the sticker.

Sticker Sets

Telegram has also added a feature that lets users add their sticker to a sticker set, which they can share with their family and friends. Telegram says that it ‘will also use AI to suggest you emoji based on your image — like a cat, dog, or car’.

How to use it: To add a sticker to a sticker set, users need to tap the Add to Sticker Set option > tap the Create New Sticker Set > type the name of the Sticker Set > tap the Done button before sending the sticker.

But WhatsApp already has this feature

It is worth noting that while Telegram has just rolled out this feature, it has been available to WhatsApp users for quite some time now. In case you aren’t sure, here’s an easy guide of how you can create your own sticker on WhatsApp:

Step 1: Open the chat where you want to share your sticker.

Step 2: Tap the Sticker icon at the bottom and then pick the Sticker icon.
