WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging applications, has rolled out one of the most important features, voice message transcripts, for the masses. This feature helps the users in converting their voice messages into texts. It has been introduced to make communication on the platform highly convenient. WhatsApp has suggested that the transcription only happens on the device of the users and nothing is stored or accessed by any third party or even WhatsApp as well.

As of now, the feature supports a few selected languages and WhatsApp is already planning to introduce multiple languages in the future. All the users can manage their transcription settings from the settings of the app. As of now, they get support for languages like Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and English.

In addition, WhatsApp has also said that the conversion of a voice message to a transcript will take a little time and it is not instantaneous. Furthermore, if you get a message saying Transcript Unavailable then it could be because of several reasons like the transcript language doesn’t match the message, words are not recognized properly, and more. And WhatsApp has also mentioned in their blog post that there are chances that the transcripts are not 100% accurate as the feature is new and it will take some time and refinements to deliver hundred percent results.
