Facebook has turned into a graveyard. Well, almost! Young users have fled to more popular social media apps such as Instagram and Snapchat, but adults keep Facebook alive. That may be a good thing for one of the oldest social media platforms, but some users who are not as active face an annoyance. A flood of irrelevant and unnecessary notifications on Facebook is distracting and annoying. Thankfully, there are ways to delete these notifications. There are two ways to deal with unwanted notifications: deleting them and adjusting the notification settings to prevent them in the future. Also Read: How to share your WhatsApp Status as Facebook Story
— Head to your Facebook account and then tap or click the bell icon in the top right corner. Also Read: Happy 20th birthday, Facebook! Three ways the platform changed the world
— Choose the notification you want to delete. Remember you can select notifications individually and not group them.
— Tap or click the three dots (ellipsis) icon next to the notification.
— Delete the notification by tapping the “Remove This Notification” option.
On desktop
— Open Facebook in a browser and sign in to your account.
— Click the down arrow in the top right corner and then head to “Settings & privacy.”
— Under the “Settings” menu, go to the search bar, type “Notification.” and then select “Notification Settings.”
— You will see all kinds of notifications that Facebook sends you.
— Turn off the switch to stop receiving notifications of a particular category.
On mobile
— In your Facebook app, tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) at the bottom.
— Now, scroll down and tap “Settings & Privacy” and then “Settings.”
— Go to “Notification Settings” here to see a list of notification categories.
— Toggle the switches next to the categories you no longer want to receive notifications from. You can turn off notifications from each category to stop receiving notifications completely on Facebook.
