According to the details shared by Google in a support page, Chrome users can listen to the text that they read on a website on their Android devices. They can also play, pause, rewind, or fast forward the content when they read out the content of a website out loud. Additionally, Chrome users can also change the playback speed of the text being read, change the voice being used while reading and turn on or off text highlighting and auto scroll while going through the webpage.

Google Chrome Listen To This Page supported languages

One good thing about this feature is that it supports a total of 12 languages. This means, Chrome users can ask it to translate and read the text of the website in any of the 12 supported languages. The list of supported languages includes — Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Chrome update: How to use Listen To This Page to listen to a webpage

Step 1: Update the Open Google Chrome app on your Android phone.

Step 2: Then open the Google Chrome app on your Android phone.

Step 3: Go to a website with text that you would like to read.

Step 4: At the top right corner of the website, tap the More option.

Step 5: Then tap the Listen To This Page option.

Step 6: To exit Listen to this page mode, tap the Close option.

Google cautions that its ‘Listen To This Page feature isn’t available for all websites yet. “When a page isn’t available for playback, the Listen to this page menu item won’t appear in the overflow menu,” Google wrote in a support page.

To manage the playback options, users can tap the player to get access to various settings pertaining to the feature. From here, users can change the playback speed, voice, and turn text highlighting on or off.
