PlayStation has always been a centre of attraction for gamers and players, with several games and enhancements coming from Sony every year. These updates bring lots of improvements and updates to the latest PlayStation as well as old ones. In a new leaked report, Sony is working on a significant update for the PS5 Pro. This upcoming update could transform and enhance how classic PlayStation titles play on the console. The update is expected to bring better support for games that are originally released on the PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP platforms.
As per recent report coming the ‘Moore’s Law Is Dead’, a trusted source who is generally known for the accurate leaks about the PS5 Pro states that Sony is working to bring a major update to the PS5 Pro. Sony is reportedly working on its proprietary upscaling technology known as PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for its PlayStation’s.
PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution is specifically designed for the PS5 Pro that enhances the lower-resolution games. This is done by advancing and upscaling the lower-resolution games to higher outputs such as 4K, that too without losing its visual quality.
This is a key distinction between the standard PS5 and the Pro model and is expected to be used in future consoles like the PS6 as well.
However, there is a limitation with the PSSR and that it is currently working with the games that have a base resolution of at least 864p. This technical requirement point towards the fact, that games that are available on the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP, cannot take advantage of the PSSR system. Instead, they are upscaled using older, less advanced methods.
As per the new leaks, the new update that Sony is preparing will reportedly allow PSSR to handle games with lower resolutions including 720p and below. This improvement could significantly improve and enhance the visual experience of classic games and titles on the PS5 Pro.
