Fresh leaks hint at a next-gen update and a Nintendo Switch 2 debut for Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar.

All cowboy fans might get excited as, Rockstar is giving the Red Dead Redemption 2 a much awaited glow-up fans have been asking for a long time. According to fresh leaks, Rockstar is not only prepping a next-gen patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but also gearing up to bring the game to Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2.

The info comes from Gamereactor, who claims sources close to Rockstar have spilled the beans on both moves. If rumours come to be true, we could finally get RDR2 on a Nintendo platform.

Talking about the next-gen patch, this could finally bring RDR2 up to a smooth 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Expect improved textures, resolution boosts, and faster load times too. While these upgrades might be minor, they’ll definitely enhance the overall gaming experience. The only downside is that Rockstar might charge for the upgrade, just like they did with GTA V: Enhanced Edition.

Of course, plans can always change, especially with the roller coaster ride the gaming industry has been on. Both Rockstar and Nintendo are clearly readjusting their timelines. With GTA VI now officially pushed to next year, more rumours have started circulating about a GTA IV port for the PS4 and the original Switch. There’s even talk of Switch 2 stock being limited for the rest of the calendar year. So, even though GTA V and maybe even GTA VI could make their way to the Switch 2, we can’t say that for sure.

GTA VI to the next fiscal year, there have already been other rumours, such as the recent one about GTA IV for PS4 and Switch 1 (following the adaptation of the first RDR), or the consequent possibility of the Switch 2 stock being reduced for the calendar year. Will GTA V and even GTA VI come to Switch 2 afterwards?

Rockstar hasn’t officially announced anything about these updates or the Nintendo Switch 2 port yet. But with rumours heating up and the Switch 2 up for sale, don’t be surprised if Rockstar tips its hat soon.
