PlayStation 5 Concord Game Shuts Down Just 2 Weeks After Launch: Here's How to Claim Refund

PlayStation announced it would take its newly launched first-person hero shooter game, ‘ Concord,’ offline two weeks after the release. The company released it for PlayStation 5 and Windows on 23 August 2024. The game was developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Concord was a highly anticipated game that promised to revolutionize the gaming experience, but it failed to gain engagement and has been plagued by poor reviews.

Firewalk Studios game director Ryan Ellis wrote in a blog post published by PlayStation, “Concord fans — we’ve been listening closely to your feedback since the launch of Concord on PlayStation 5 and PC and want to thank everyone who has joined the journey aboard the Northstar”

How to Receive a Refund:

Users who purchased Concord from PlayStation will receive a refund using their original payment method. However, Epic Games Store will refund players who bought the game over the coming days and will contact each customer directly to confirm that the refund has been processed. Customers who purchased from other digital storefronts will also be refunded.

PlayStation said in its blog post, “While we determine the best path ahead, Concord sales will cease immediately and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased the game for PS5 or PC.”

What is Concord:

Concord is a first-person perspective sci-fi hero shooter game that pits players against each other in intense player-versus-player combat. It includes alien characters who are equipped with powerful abilities, including robotic legs or diamond skin. Firewalk initially developed Concord in collaboration with its parent company, ProbablyMonsters, until the studio was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

PlayStation departed some of its games in May, including classics like Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 15, and the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X|X-2. As per the report, the company has likely sold only 25,000 units of Concord since its launch. Sony president Hiroki Totoki has said earlier in his statement that they are planning to bring several live service PlayStation games and are committed to launching six of them by the end of the financial year 2025.
