US President Donald Trump has recently announced the new tariff plans for major countries which involves imposing high taxes on imported goods, especially from China. This new tariff plan has not just impacted major tech companies from all around the world, but also gaming companies like Sony. Amid the announcement of the new tariff plan, Sony has decided to increase the price of its PlayStation 5 consoles in several markets. This strategy of price hike announced by Sony is to manage the challenging economic environment influenced by US President Donald Trump.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced the raise in the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia and New Zealand. The price will be effective from 14 April. Nevertheless, the tech giant has not yet announced the price hike in India, but keeping the economic challenge in mind and Trump’s new tariff system, its not far when the company will announce price hike for its PlayStation 5 even in India.

PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99
(No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)

UK:

PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99
(No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)

Australia:

Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95
PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95

New Zealand:

Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – NZD $949.95
PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $859.95

The price for PS5 Pro remain unchanged. In addition, the Disc Drive for PS5 is seeing an RRP decrease that will be effective from 14 April. The prices for Disc Drive for PS5 in selected markets are:

• UK: £69.99
• Australia: AUD $124.95
• New Zealand: NZD $139.95
