Nintendo is back at the top and with a bang. The hype around the Nintendo Switch 2 has totally smashed all the records. The newly launched Switch 2 has already sold a staggering 3.5 million units globally within just four days of release. This makes the Switch 2 making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console during the launch. This is a big milestone for the company and this shows that portable handheld gaming is still alive. The Switch 2 officially launched on June 5, 2025. This handheld builds on the success of the original but adds significant upgrades. It features a larger and more responsive display with enhanced processing and graphics. The new magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers also add to the convenience, making them easy to remove and ideal for group gaming. These updated controllers aim to fix past complaints. The new Joy-Cons are bigger in size, making them easier to use individually and offering better precision. They might not use hall effect sensors, but the thumbsticks have also been improved for better grip and overall ergonomics.

Nintendo is also making a serious push into social gaming with the new GameChat. This is a voice and video chat system with built-in screen sharing. This can be easily accessed by clicking the new C Button on the Joy-Con 2. This addition makes it super easy to play and chat with friends, making it perfect for those competitive Mario Kart sessions.
The biggest reason behind the massive surge in demand for the Switch 2 is the improvements it brings, along with the launch of a first-party exclusive, Mario Kart World. In Japan, Nintendo is pushing a Mario Kart World Set bundle that includes the game and a Japanese-language Switch 2, making it a solid value pick for new buyers. Along with this, exclusive titles like Drag x Drive, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, The Duskbloods, Donkey Kong Bonanza, and more have made the Switch 2 a crowd favourite.
