Microsoft has already confirmed that the $1,000 ROG Xbox Ally X has seen overwhelming demand, with pre-orders sold out globally through the Xbox store. Both handhelds – the Ally X and the standard Ally – are scheduled to hit shelves on October 16 across confirmed launch markets. More regions, including India, Brazil, China, Malaysia, and the Philippines, will get the devices shortly after.
The ROG Xbox Ally X is clearly aimed at players who want a true portable powerhouse. It runs on the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and packs 24GB of RAM alongside 1TB of storage. Its sibling, the ROG Xbox Ally, uses the Ryzen Z2 chip with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Both handhelds boot into a streamlined Windows 11 interface designed around the new Xbox full-screen experience. This setup reduces background processes, keeping more resources free for games. Players will be able to install and play titles directly from Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Xbox app, while also tapping into their existing Xbox console libraries through Xbox Play Anywhere. Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported too, giving users a way to stream without downloading.
In addition, Microsoft is bundling three months of Xbox Game Pass with every unit, offering instant access to hundreds of titles from day one.
