A fresh leak has revealed that two new iconic characters are joining the game. The two Marvel characters, Blade and Phoenix, are expected to arrive in Marvel Rivals in the upcoming Season 3. Although these characters haven’t made their debut in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) yet, gamers are excited to play as them. Let’s break down everything we know so far about the next season of NetEase’s superhero action game.

According to a post on the Marvel Rivals Leaks subreddit by user VeniceArtime, Blade and Jean Grey/Phoenix will headline Season 3. The season will reportedly be titled Abyss Awaken, featuring new team-up abilities, Venomized skins, and exciting summer events. 

Recap of Season 2

The Marvel Rival’s Season 2, kicked off on April 11, was themed around the Hellfire Gala. This was an iconic event in Marvel Comics celebrating mutant culture. The update added new maps and characters to the game. Krakoa and Arakko maps were added along with Emma Frost as a playable Vanguard. The studio also added Ultron, expanding the roster of Strategists. This all laid the groundwork for more X-Men-related content, setting up Phoenix’s arrival quite naturally.

Long-Awaited Characters Join the Fight

Both Blade and Phoenix have been teased multiple times. In December 2024, Phoenix was part of a major leak alongside other features like Storm and Human Torch team-ups. Even
Blade was spotted in Season 1’s Central Park map, where he appears captured by Dracula. 

Additional leaks also pointed to the arrival of Elixir alongside Phoenix, though his status remains unconfirmed for now.

Season 3 Theme Rumours 

With Season 3 about to kick off on July 11 with Klyntar, this season’s theme could revolve around the symbiotes. Klyntar is the home planet of the symbiotes, and this means we might see more symbiote-based maps and even the introduction of Knull. For those unaware, Knull is the sinister creator of the symbiote species like Venom and Carnage. If true, this could mean more Venomized skins, possibly expanding to other Marvel characters and bringing a more cosmic storyline to the new season.

As of now, all the information is based on leaks and speculation, but the community is really excited. If the rumours hold true, Marvel Rivals Season 3 could be the game’s boldest update yet, bringing fan-favourites Blade and Phoenix into the fold and expanding the symbiote lore even further.
