Fortnite has officially confirmed that the game will finally return to iOS next year. Alongside Fortnite, the Epic Games Store will also be arriving on mobile. This announcement comes soon after the European Union (EU) announced the Digital Markets Act (DMA), allowing third-party app makers to launch their own storefronts on iOS. Apple iPhone users will finally get to download apps and games from places other than the App Store, however, there’s a catch to this. news Also Read: Amazon Prime Gaming Brings 11 Free PC Games In September 2025: Full Lineup And How To Claim

Fortnite and Epic Games Store release timeline

Fortnite and Epic Games Store will be released in the second half of 2025, as confirmed by Fortnite’s official X handle. news Also Read: Microsoft’s Xbox App for PC Now Lists Games from Other Stores for a Unified Library

While Fortnite has confirmed the return of the game and the arrival of the Epic Games Store on iOS, both of these apps will be limited to the United Kingdom. That’s the catch, you won’t be able to access these apps anywhere else other than the UK, thanks to the EU’s Digital Markets Act. news Also Read: New Fortnite Update Might Make it Tougher to Win in Battle Royale Matches

For the unversed, in compliance with DMA, Apple has changed its App Store policy allowing download of apps from third-party app stores. However, users will be able to download 1 million apps for free from third-party stores, upon that, Apple will be charging a small fee.

Now, it remains to be seen how this works when we have several third-party app stores. As of now, we know that apart from the Epic Games Store, MacPaw’s Setapp and AltStore PAL are two other third-party stores on iOS. The latter is already available on iOS in Europe. The former had a limited launch this month.

More app stores means more apps and games to download and use. It is worth noting that Fortnite will be available on iOS through Epic Games Store. It won’t be essentially arriving on Apple’s App Store. Other apps and games the Epic Games Store will offer include Rocket League, Rocket Racing, and Postparty.

In other news about the App Store, iOS users can now install emulators on their iPhones. As of now, two popular emulator apps are officially available on the App Store, namely, Delta and PPSSPP. Thanks to these apps, iPhone users can enjoy Nintendo games and PlayStation Portable (PSP) titles on their phones.
