HMD launched two new smartphones in India on Thursday: Crest and Crest Max. Their special thing: they are the company’s first phones bearing the HMD moniker. The new HMD Crest and HMD Crest Max are part of the Finnish company’s revamped strategy — announced last year — to launch HMD-branded phones in addition to Nokia phones. Crest and Crest Max are not too different and may find their takers in customers looking for sleek and pretty phones with a near-stock Android 14 operating system. Here are the differences between the HMD Crest and Crest Max’s specifications.

HMD Crest vs HMD Crest Max: Specifications

Display: Both Crest and Crest Max share their display specifications. They have a 6.65-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 396 PPI pixel density.

Chipset: You also get the same Unisoc T760 chipset on both phones. It features one 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 core, another three Cortex-A76 cores clocked at a lower speed, and four Cortex-A55 energy cores, based on a 6nm fabrication process. The chipset is paired with a Mali-G57 GPU for graphics.

RAM and Storage: The HMD Crest has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while the Max has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both phones support storage expansion via a microSD card.

Cameras: While the HMD Crest has a 50MP+2MP dual camera system on the back, the Crest Max has three cameras: a 64MP wide sensor, a 5MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. Both phones support 1080p video recording with HDR. Their selfie cameras are, however, the same: a 50MP sensor with full-HD video recording.

Battery: Both phones pack a 5000mAh battery, which is both removable and user-replaceable. It supports 33W fast wired charging using the bundled charger.

HMD Crest vs HMD Crest Max: Price

The HMD Crest costs Rs 14,499, while the Crest Max is priced at Rs 16,499. But the company is offering them at introductory prices of Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999. The Crest comes in Midnight Blue, Royal Pink, and Lush Lilac, whereas the Max has Deep Purple, Royal Pink, and Aqua Green colourways.
