Reddit has been experimenting with a lot of things and now one of those innovations is coming out for the masses. The platform has started rolling out a new AI feature specially designed to help users get answers within Reddit conversations and posts for their queries. The feature has been named Reddit Answers and it is being tested within a limited number of users in the United States of America.
As for the working of Reddit Answers, it will be identical to any AI tool that is available in the market. For example, it will respond to the questions of the users with summaries of conversations on the platform along with providing links to relevant posts and communities. The feature will more likely work as an AI chatbot that can provide recommendations and suggest follow-up questions for the queries of users.
Yes, you read that right. To be precise here, Reddit has a plethora of information about almost anything and everything. From details answers related to Anime, Gaming, and a lot more. The Reddit Answers tool will use all this data to offer valid answers. Similar to what we get to see in the case of Google Gemini and ChatGPT.
However, one of the biggest challenges that Reddit Answers will face is that its dataset is limited and not based on everything that is one the web. Now, the answers on Reddit could be biased, flawed, or even blatant conspiracy theories. This could create a major hurdle for Reddit Answers in order to provide accurate information when a user searches for anything.
This move by Reddit will surely reduce the dependency of the user on Google. But, it will be interesting to see how things work out for Reddit Answers and how it performs against the competition from models that scrap information from all over the web.
