OpenAI is back in the spotlight, and this time, it’s all about visuals. The company has just launched their new ImageGen in its API. It has already taken the developer and creator communities by storm.

The big deal behind is that ImageGen lets developers tap directly into OpenAI’s image generation capabilities, making it easier than ever to build AI-powered visual tools into their apps or websites. What makes it cool and unique is that the level of control developers now have. They can choose how fast the image renders, how detailed you want it, customise the background, and even set the output file format.

There’s also a new safety feature which allows developers to tweak how strict the model is when it comes to filtering out inappropriate content, which can be a game-changer depending on the kind of app you’re building.

Application Of This Model

Some major companies have already stayed testing this new tech. Canva is experimenting with turning rough sketches into eye pleasing visuals. GoDaddy is looking to help users create and edit logos. While on the other hand, HubSpot wants to help marketers generate on-brand images in seconds, and Instacart is trying it out to enhance recipe and product visuals. Every company is taking its own approach and making the most of these new capabilities of ChatGPT.

The model at the core of this is gpt-image-1, which comes packed with built-in safety systems to prevent harmful or offensive content. OpenAI also confirmed that they don’t train the model on customer API data, which should ease a lot of privacy concerns.

It’s surprisingly reasonable as well and is priced between $0.02 and $0.19(Rs 17 to Rs 16)per image depending on the quality and rendering options.
