Google Gemini’s latest Nano Banana AI model has quickly gone viral on social media, with users experimenting by uploading their photos to generate hyper-realistic visuals. While the trend has caught the attention of millions, authorities are urging people to exercise caution. IPS officer VC Sajjanar took to X (formerly Twitter) to remind people that while internet trends can be fun, they can also create opportunities for cybercriminals. “Be cautious with internet trends! Falling for the ‘Nano Banana’ trending craze… sharing personal information online can lead to such scams. The officer stressed that individuals should never upload personal photos or sensitive details to unofficial platforms. “Trends come and go, but once your data is uploaded to a fake website or unauthorized app, it’s hard to get it back,” he warned. Sajjanar also emphasized the importance of personal responsibility when it comes to digital safety. “Remember… your data, your money – your responsibility,” he wrote, sharing a screenshot of a news snippet where a person was reportedly scammed while participating in the Nano Banana trend.

His post quickly drew attention online, with many people agreeing that such reminders are much needed. One user wrote, “This is a very important reminder. Awareness like this is essential for keeping our data safe.”

The officer also tagged the Prime Minister’s Office, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Telangana Police in his post, urging authorities to stay alert to the dangers posed by viral AI trends.
