Competition Alert for Google! Perplexity is bringing Comet Browser

The race to build AI models and elements is heating up with each passing day. And now, AI startup Perplexity is creating an agentic browser that will directly compete with Google search. The browser has been named Comet, as announced by Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas. However, not a lot of details regarding the same have been unveiled until now.

In an official LinkedIn post, Aravind Srinivas asked the users to sign up for the waitlist and even said that “This is a pretty serious undertaking. Please Join us to help create the future of internet browsing with AIs doing deep research and tasks for us.”

Now, not a lot of information related to the upcoming agentic browser has been revealed until now. However, speculations are that we will get to know more about the same in the coming days. One the very least, we can expect to see the beta version of the browser being opened for a selected group of users for the purpose of testing and feedback.

In the current scenario, Perplexity has an AI chatbot that works more or less like a browser because it provides information to users after triggering a search and collecting relevant data from all over the web.

As we all know, despite having a lot of competition, Google is the king of the browser market with a decent chunk of market share. As for the current market, it will be nothing less than a tough challenge for Comet Agentic Browser to at least compete with Google Chrome.
