X (Twitter) and BlueSky announced bringing a vertical feed tab amidst the TikTok ban in the US. The companies are speculated to capitalize on the TikTok ban by launching a vertical video feed just like Instagram. The Elon Musk-owned platform on Monday announced that the platform will now have a dedicated vertical video tab. The post on X reads, “An immersive new home for videos is rolling out to users in the US today”
The company came up with its vertical feed option by introducing it to the explore page. The page exclusively showcases videos. The company jokingly tweeted on X stating ‘Not making a video tab’ and then posting a video of the same. The newly added vertical tab has replaced the community icon at the bottom bar of the X.
you better not be making a dedicated video tab when I get home

The feature is limited to US users right now and will gradually be rolled out to users in different countries. However, the vertical tab feature is added for the X’s mobile app. As of now, there’s no official update about when the feature will be rolled out to the web or the users in different countries.
X already is equipped with a short-form video feature that you can discover in your feed and scroll up to discover more. The videos are displayed in various formats including 9:16 aspect ratio mode, square mode, and smaller mode. To make things easier for users, the company came up with the vertical video tab which will consolidate all the videos in one place, making it simpler to watch. The videos will be featured in the same full portrait 9:16 aspect ratio mode.
As we all know the TikTok future is in the dark, not entirely right now. But the Bytedance-owned platform has been given 75 days either to strike a deal with the US and let them have the 50% stakes or be ready to be banned.
