New day, new WhatsApp feature in testing. This time Meta is testing a feature that blocks spam messages from unknown accounts. This will help users do away with unwanted spam coming their way. However, this feature will be optional to turn on, as users will get an option to toggle it on in Settings. This new security feature was spotted on Android first and is expected to be released on iOS later. Also Read: WhatsApp’s New iPhone Update Brings A Liquid Glass Design, But Also A Strange Mute Bug
WABetaInfo has discovered a new feature in testing in the beta version of WhatsApp on Android. The feature in question is the ability to block unknown account messages. When this feature is turned on, WhatsApp will block messages from unknown accounts if they exceed a certain volume. This means an abundance of messages from anyone who is not added to your contacts may get blocked automatically. This is great for reducing the amount of spam and protecting one’s account. As mentioned above, the feature was spotted in the Android beta version of the app version 2.24.17.24. If you are running the latest beta version on your device, then you may see it. To enable this feature, users need to head to Settings > Privacy > Advanced. In the Advanced section, you should see it just above the ‘Protect IP address in calls’ feature, which was released sometime back. WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed the public availability of the feature, but we can expect that to happen sometime later this year. Also, since the feature has been spotted on Android in the beta version, expect it to be also seen in the iOS beta version of the app.
In other news about WhatsApp, the app now lets users create AI-generated stickers with a simple command to Meta AI. Users can generate stickers of their choice with the ‘Imagine’ feature that is available in the attachments section.
