WhatsApp is now rolling out a new version of the voice notes functionality in Status to allow users to post up to 1-minute long recordings. A single voice note of up to 1 minute can go as Status, so if you want to share more information or express yourself beyond that limit, you can post multiple voice notes that play in continuity. The new update is available on Android and iOS apps for everyone, meaning you do not have to be a beta tester to access longer voice notes.
Longer voice notes in WhatsApp
When launched, the Status feature became quickly popular, allowing users to share tidbits about their lives and what’s happening around them conveniently. While photos and videos were made available initially, voice recordings came later. You could send a voice note of up to 30 seconds long until now, but several users demanded they needed more time to finish what they wanted to say. WhatsApp, which is quite attentive to user feedback, acknowledged the problem users were facing. The latest WhatsApp update for Android and iOS implements the feedback.
According to the WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the 1-minute-long feature for voice notes in Status updates. It could eliminate the need to split voice messages up to 1-minute long into two shorter recordings. It could also prevent interruptions between two shorter voice recordings, making the experience seamless. However, you will still have to post multiple voice notes if the recording is beyond 1 minute. Alternatively, you can combine voice and text to convey your messages or share your feelings through WhatsApp Status.
