WhatsApp has finally started testing multi-account support on iOS, a feature long requested by users who want to manage more than one phone number on the same iPhone. The update will let users add a second WhatsApp account inside the main app and switch between them quickly without signing out, something that has been available on Android for a while and was often managed on iOS through workarounds like WhatsApp Business. news Also Read: Apple May Soon Let iPhone Users Replace Siri With Third-Party Assistants, But There’s A Catch

Multi-Account Support Appears in WhatsApp Beta for iOS

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the option is currently available for select users running WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.34.10.72. Testers are seeing a new Account List section inside settings. This menu allows users to add up to two accounts, whether it is a fresh number, an existing WhatsApp account or a companion account linked through a QR code. news Also Read: Stop Saving Random Numbers! Each account keeps its own chat history, notifications and privacy settings. WhatsApp stores everything separately, so switching between profiles does not mix conversations or media. All backups and controls also remain tied to the individual account. news Also Read: How iOS 26 Helps You Stop Spam Calls: 7 Things To Know

Notifications and Switching Controls

WhatsApp has also updated how notifications behave when multiple accounts are active. Alerts appear even when the message arrives on an account that is not currently open. Each notification clearly shows which account it belongs to, helping users avoid confusion between personal and work messages.

Switching accounts is simple. Testers can move between accounts using the Account List, or through shortcuts like pressing and holding the Settings tab or double-tapping it. A small on-screen confirmation appears to show the active account after switching.

The feature also supports App Lock. If an account is protected with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode, users will need to authenticate before accessing it. Accounts can be removed from the settings section and added again later. WhatsApp will remember previously used numbers to make the sign-in process faster.

Wider Rollout Expected Soon

The test is currently limited to a small group of iOS beta users. A broader release is expected in future updates once the feature is refined.

WhatsApp introduced multi-account support on Android in 2023. It later became widely available, allowing users to add a second number directly inside the app without relying on workarounds. The same experience is now finally making its way to iPhone users.
